Riley Graves
The Riley Graves are the open graves of the the Hancock family, most of whom died during the outbreak of plague in Eyam. In the space of a week farmer Elizabeth Hancock lost her husband and 6 children to the plague. Tragically, Elizabeth had to bury her family herself, Elizabeth carried and buried them on the hill. It is also thought that the infection reached her family through a villagers body she helped to bury.
